Aslam Khan is a pioneering Indian police officer from Rajasthan, holding the distinction of being the first Muslim woman to achieve the rank of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the state. Born into the Kayamkhani Muslim community in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan, her unique name, Aslam Khan, was originally chosen by her father in anticipation of a son. She overcame financial hardships in her childhood, an experience that instilled in her a deep sense of empathy and a desire to help others.

A 2007 batch IPS officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre, Aslam Khan, has held various significant roles, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Delhi, Goa, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. She also served as the Additional Commissioner of Police (Vigilance) in the Delhi Police. Her commitment to fighting corruption has been a consistent theme throughout her career. During her tenure as Superintendent of Police in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, she exposed corruption within the Port Blair Municipal Council, leading to the arrest of at least eight government officials. Her exceptional service and dedication were formally recognised with a promotion to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) grade on January 1, 2025, placing her among an elite group of senior police officers.

In 2007, Aslam Khan married fellow IPS officer Pankaj Kumar, a notable interfaith union that challenged societal norms. The couple has two children, and both continue to serve in the Delhi Police.  She is considered a model of humanitarian service within the police force and a symbol of religious harmony. Her career shows that effective policing is not just about professional competence but also requires deep empathy and a commitment to social welfare.
