Nushrratt Bharuccha, born on May 17, 1985, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, is an established Indian actress known for her versatility and persistence in the Hindi film industry. Raised as the only child in a Dawoodi Bohra Muslim family to a businessman father and a homemaker mother, she completed her education with a degree in Fine Arts from Mumbai’s Jai Hind College before embarking on an acting career spanning over two decades.
Her journey into entertainment began with television, making her debut in the 2002 series Kittie Party. She transitioned to the big screen with a role in the devotional film Jai Santoshi Maa (2006), followed by minor appearances in other movies and a Telugu project. Her first significant role in Hindi cinema came with the experimental anthology film Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010), which earned her initial recognition. However, it was her collaboration with director Luv Ranjan and co-star Kartik Aaryan in the romantic comedy Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011) that brought her into the limelight, showcasing her flair for comic timing.

An interesting footnote to her career is that she was shortlisted for the lead role in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, but was ultimately not cast because the filmmakers felt her glamorous look did not suit the character of a girl from the slums.
